Further Details:
This course is held on our small farm in the village of Swinithwaite, near Leyburn, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Much of the day will be spent outside, looking at the practicalities of land and fencing, equipment and grass.  There will also be a significant amount of hands-on sheep work, so old clothing and good boots or shoes are recommended.  A sunhat/rain jacket are also a good idea, depending on the weather!
Some of the course will also take place in a converted barn, where we will look at the equipment necessary to keep sheep happy and healthy, but also to look at the inevitable paperwork that modern farming has in plentiful quantities.
The course also includes a fantastic lunch and refreshments provided by Berry’s Farm Shop in the village, which may even contain some of our own mutton!
This course is intended for anyone who already has or wants to keep sheep, or indeed anyone interested in finding out more about the economic heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
Please contact us if you have any questions, would like to discuss the course in more detail or would like to book a place.  Availability is very limited due to the hands-on nature of these courses, so don’t delay!
